Dear Runners:
    
As you know, COVID-19 has had a major impact on our lives, and the racing world has been hit especially hard. Unfortunately, it is with great disappointment that we have decided not to have a live in-person event this year. After long deliberations with the Town of Gilbert representatives and speaking with race directors from around the U.S., we have come to the conclusion that we cannot have a safe and successful in-person event while trying to adhere to the Governor’s orders and COVID-19 safety precautions for large events. 

Most of us, myself included, are very eager to get out and race again; however, we do not want to compromise the safety and health of our runners and community, nor do we want to host a subpar event. 
    
These are also difficult times for small businesses, such as our vendors and sponsors, local races, and non-profit organizations. We are all struggling to survive. But you can help us by participating in our virtual event! For a small registration fee, you can get out and run, earn a great medal and shirt, AND support us so we can come back bigger and better in 2021!

The virtual race will be run through the Active Experience app. Instructions will be sent once we finish working out all details. For now, I know that we will set specific dates to complete the virtual run and upload results to the Experience app. Aiming to be more environmentally conscious, we will offer drive-through medal and shirt pickups for local runners. 

For those of you who had registered for a live in-person event, we have two options (as previously posted on our registration, websites, and waivers). You will receive another email from us giving you further instructions and a deadline for choosing your option. 

Difficult times call for difficult decisions, and this truly was a difficult decision for our team. But we strongly feel it was the best decision for our running community. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
